i'm not expecting PLA to be good, but there's more forms and stuff they could show which wouldn't hint at how bad the game's going to be, so they might genuinely be trying not to show too much

Honestly, this. I get not wanting to spoil everything like with Sun and Moon, but for a game which shills claim is the next big thing and future of the series, well TPC sure aren't treating it as such. There are no dev interviews, playable demos, press previews seem to getting to pushed to the last minute.. if any other dev was doing this with their game so close to release people would rightfully get red flags.

the big thing youre forgetting: this is Pokemon, they dont have to do jack shit for their game to sell well. all they have to do is show us the bare minimum to prove that it shakes up the formula and people will buy it. and theyve already done just that

they have literally nothing left to prove. they already know that a game as ugly and bugged as BDSP will still sell no matter what, so why should they feel like they need to prove themselves? the game could be the best in the world or it could be the worst, and it will sell no matter what. thats why we dont get dev interviews or playable demos, bc its pointless effort in their eyes

Possibly no held items
No trainer battles
Possibly no double battles or any other format
Still not clear how many pokemon are in the game, dex could be massively cut and have possibly more missing pokemon than SwSh
Graphics are only 'good' if you compare them to SwSh, they look fucking pathetic if you compare them to any other Switch game
World is large and empty with nothing to do except "capture 20 pidgeys" type of quests
Moves like Stealth Rock have been altered to dumb down the game, competitive scene looks bleak
There might not even be multiplayer battles at all
Postgame will probably be "capture 40 pidgeys" quests

But with SWSH they had something to prove (that they could make the 3D console Pokemon game). And while they didn't really rise to the occasion, they still had to give out a lot of info on the game to make sure it was going to sell.

With this game they are riding the concept's dick harder than anything. They know it's not going to deliver everything people want, but if they keep a lot of stuff under wraps they can hopefully hoodwink people into taking a chance on it. Basically SWSH had to stand on its own and show that "yes, we're still making Pokemon games like you love AND it's on a new shiny console" while Arceus they can just stand back and let it sell on the "it's BOTW but with Pokemon" dream alone.

Theory: they're not showing a lot since they're advertising for a certain audience, those possibly younger than us. They won't advertise specific things because they're keeping that younger audience in mind, and have to sell through the main gimmick which is the free-roam, BotW-esque aspect.

it already is looking to be that way. the majority of gameplay is purely focused on catching pokemon. almost no variety in the gameplay loop. it will be incredibly boring.
the only think that I am excited to see is the story, which will be like less than 5-10% of the game, and the new forms/mons.

Yeah anon I'm sure there's nothing there at all and it's just a coincidence that the place who's gimmick is being related to the Sinnoh of old is completely hidden in pre-release material for the game focusing on the Sinnoh of old.

The early adopter bonuses for these games last for months, there's really no reason to buy it day one. If you want to see more then just wait a week before buying it, no reason for them to reveal information that would be more effective as a surprise upon release.

If you actually compare the two you'd know PLA has better development cycle with PLA being developed third-party and with the DLCs (guessing you didn't even play them) being an improvement over base SwSh

Sure, but I can't recall a single person saying they thought the DLC was a step down from the main game. If you think that then I'd love to hear your reasoning. And it was pretty different in terms of design and pacing so you can't really say it's "just as bad" without getting a little more in-depth.

First one didn't add much and isn't that crazy. Second one though, Dynamax Adventures is one of the best thing I've experienced in Pokémon in a while. It could be even better but the concept is so fun. Having to work with what you have, against stronger versions of mons, and actually apply intelligent strats, that's not something we have seen a lot recently in this franchise. If the CPUs were less dumb, it would be even fun alone, though the added difficulty to have to work with dumbass AIs can be seen as fun for the more hardcore audience but is quickly a drag since RNG has a lot to do for it for some Legendaries if you want to even have a chance.
