Like even Lance with his 3 Dragonites still has a coherent theme of 'dragon pokemon' between Aerodactyl, Charizard, and Gyarados. Cynthia's pokemon as well fit her vibe and aesthetic, with Garchomp, the super rare pokemon you haven't even seen yet with Spiritomb, as well as Milotic and Togekiss. Even Leon has an interesting creative choice by giving him the unused starter
Diantha, meanwhile, has exactly one pokemon that fits her aesthetic. She's very graceful-looking and refined, so a Gardevoir suits her for an ace. However, why does she have a Hawlucha, or the fossils? Aurorus suits her, but giving her both fossils just feels redundant, especially after already having fought a gym leader whose only pokemon were the fossils. Hawlucha just seems like an odd choice as well, it completely clashes with her visual aesthetic, it just seems like they wanted more exposure on their shill fighting type alongside Lucario a second time. She wouldn't be nearly as bad if her team was something along the lines of like, Gardevoir, Aurorus, Sylveon, Ninetales, Goodra if you have to keep the psuedo, maybe even Altaria or Delcatty if they wanted to tie in the gen 3 remakes more.
