Does anyone know anything about this Farfetch'd that looks like it's playing whack a mole with Diglett? I've played both games and I don't think I've ever seen or found it so it must be a special promo I don't know how to get.

the second game has some fun and some shit deck conditions for some opponents
so you need to make multiple decks which was fun
i especially liked the ghost enemies at the end although they were easier then expected

On one hand I like that they force you to change your deck on the regular playthrough which makes you try stuff you normally might not but after you've established your "final" deck it gets really annoying. I wish that after defeating Vilici, being that it's the "post-game" those deck condition restrictions were lifted because as is it I'm simply gonna avoid all the trainers who require me to change my deck.

I wish there were easy hacking tools to make edits to the cards even if it was just basic stuff like changing the HP, damage and energy costs. I'd love to be able to make some underpowered cards more useful.

Truthfully, I don't know, but my two guesses are:

Second game's progression being more controlled in what was previously a more open map was expected but still feels odd. But such fun, good music, turns flow quickly and attack animations are just right, overworld feels like off-brand RGBY in the best way.

I'm with him not gonna lie. I know it might just be because I didn't grow up with it and I'm not that familiar with the new cards but there's something to be said about the classic simplicity. Having all the variations of the same pokémon kind of cheapens it.

By the time YGO started peaking in its popularity, the Pokémon TCG was probably at some of its lowest levels of popularity. Notice how expensive Pokémon singles are from that era - they're tougher to come by than the sets before it, because fewer people bought them initially.

They weren't slow. There are options to skip all or some of the animations with by pressing the B button. Matches absolutely fly by if you want them to.

Definitely neither of these cards are top-tier, dependable, must-haves for a deck, but remember that it's a card game for kids. You've gotta have some underdog cards that are just fun to use. Sure, most of the time, you're never gonna get that big dick haymaker of 60 damage for only two energy, but when you do, it's a hype moment that keeps the game entertaining. But I will grant you that Cloyster of all mons isn't the best choice to adapt into a luck-based glass cannon.

Like what would it hurt if Cloyster had like 80HP, clamp didn't have a chance to miss and spike cannon did 40x instead of 30x?
Would it have broken the game? No. Would Cloyster have become a competitive threat? No. Would I feel like I'm not gimping myself too hard by including my bro (that otherwise would literally not do shit besides getting knocked out in a couple turns) in my deck and therefore making me able to enjoy the game more? YES

I guarantee Cloyster would have seen more play if you changed Clamp that way. It would easily become one of the best Water-types. Generally 2-for-30 were already good moves, but with a paralysis chance added it would be very strong, especially if it had 80HP. To make it balanced you'd need to make it cost another energy (even a Colorless would be better than nothing) or keep the miss chance. 40x on Spike Cannon would be fine, I think, but imo If you're raising its HP to 80, you can really only change one of its moves as you propose or it becomes way too strong for a stage 1.

My point is that's there's really nothing to lose by making some pokémon a little stronger. Parasect, Sandslash, Marowak, Omastar, Porygon, Tentacruel, Slowbro, Onix, Starmie, Seadra... There are so many pokémon that suck so hard there is literally no incentive whatsoever to ever include in your deck unless you're a masochist and simply boosting some of their numbers would lessen the feeling without breaking the game at all. This isn't coming from the mindset of an hyper competitive proplayer, a 10 year old could easily look at them and conclude at a glance "this sucks", same way a game designer would conclude "raising these numbers a little would not upset the balance we're striving for"

Yeah no I get what you mean. WotC definitely had some baffling decisions and the two cards you mentioned were absolutely underperformers, I'm just rationalizing why they might be so and theorycrafting possible solutions. Incidentally, if you look at how crazy power creep has gotten since the WotC era, I'd be willing to bet that your Cloyster idea would actually be quite underpowed in today's meta.
