I like both. Just from a visual standpoint I love LGPE, its designs were very good. But I do have a nostalgic soft spot for the original art style and it's sharper, almost kind of mean look. LGPE design is far more cute and cuddly lookin, harder to sell that smug superior competitive trainer vibe, but it also has its own charm that I like

If LGPE let us play as that Red and let us keep the starter for different games (drop the mythic stats and stupid moves obviously) it would have been my favorite of the Kanto games. Leaving behind Pokémon always hurts and they made the starters feel like actual interactive Pokémon :(
