he's amazing in singleplayer, just bash your way through everything with Return/Slash/Double-Edge and Earthquake (you get the TM for Earthquake right after you can catch an Ursaring in GSC.) Skarmory and Aerodactyl would be a problem if it weren't for Thunderpunch, GG no re ursaring wins.

Add Curse/Swords Dance to be able to do the same shit from an even lower level

If you're patient with the 5% encounter rate in Dark Cave, and set your clock so that you can play in the morning, yes.

But in Crystal, Teddiursa's moveset is pretty underwhelming until you get Headbutt in Ilex, or Return in Goldenrod (on a Sunday...). And Ursaring needs to use his mediocre 75 SpAtk for Ice and Thunderpunch in gen 2 instead of his busted 130 Atk. still one of the easier Pokemon to rush through the game with, though.
