And because of this, it often has the secondary result of "old thing good, new thing bad" because of how frequently artists, when they are unknown and poor, put a lot of effort into projects when they have no money and do things purely out of passion instead of being paid to do something they don't really care for.
But this obviously doesn't hold true 100% of the time.
However, many people just parrot soul/soulless as a way of dismissing anything "modern."
Despite the fact that many modern things have more "soul" than their older counterpart.
So tl;dr, it means that you can feel the passion an effort in the product. Unless the person is being a shitposter, in which case it means "old good, new bad."
