>>49300858>Do you agree that Generation 8 of Pokémon is really weak so far?Gen 8 is a bit of a mixed bag. Base SWSH was fun but underwhelming, probably like a 6 or 7 out of 10. I really loved the DLC, particularly Crown Tundra. That was phenomenal, brings the whole package up to easily an 8 out of 10. BDSP is a really half baked remake. It does have some improvements over base DP, namely the new underground encounters, speed, and no HMs, but it just feels so low quality and rushed. I feel like it’s a 6/10, and that’s being generous. As far as spin-off games go, I really liked both New Snap and Rescue Team DX. Neither was particularly bold but they were super solid.
I think all around, Gen 8 just feels like another pokemon generation. It has the usual pokemon good, and plenty of the usual pokemon bad. I think what makes it particularly noticeable this time around is this is a handheld series on a console for the first time and it feels so much smaller and less polished than all of its contemporaries. On the 3DS it was a little less noticeable but it is just so evident here. I think Gen 9 will be a lot better, Gen 8 feels like a test drive for the Switch rather than a truly competent product.
>Do you think PLA will save itI think PLA will be an incredibly divisive game. Those who love it will really love it and everyone else will find it middling at best and mind numbing at worst. My favorite part of SWSH was exploring and catching pokemon so I imagine I will find PLA quite endearing, but I can’t blame anyone who thinks they just aren’t all that fun.
