>>49305526I'm actually playing pokemon crystal for the first time right now. I'm dicking around in kanto now. My first experience with the pokemon games was pokemon silver on my younger cousin's gbc he'd rented from a toy rental store. We were both so young we barely understood how to play the game. We couldn't save an we couldn't even talk to the lady in the pokemon center. We sucked, basically. It also sure didn't help that neither of us could read English.
I've played gen 1 before plenty of times, so it was a huge surprise to me to find out how good gen 2 looks. The pokemon sprites in gen 1 were extremely mixed and the backsprites were often a disaster, but all the sprites in gen 2, both front and back, look exactly like how those pokemon are supposed to look. It is unreal how good these games can look on such old hardware. I was expecting them to look like gen 1 and for only gen 3 to be the first visual upgrade, but I'd say gen 2 is pretty much a perfect stepping stone between how good gen 1 and gen 3 look. I'm really impressed by the games. Gen 2 is awesome.
