>>49320777When you're talking about something that's a real world analysis, abstract assessment or prediction or something along those lines, people asking for a source are obnoxious because the assumption is that neither you or them are qualified to ever give an opinion not unless it's through one of their approved corporate media outlets. And the other assumption is that the concept is something simple enough that it can be proven with just a source and no explanation, typically because the person in question can never provide any explanations on their own.
When you're dealing with something that is a simple true/false statement, yes you need to present some kind of facts to back it up, even if you were able to deduce this correctly on your own.
