They could just not act like these pokemon are "newly discovered" in the games and everything would be fine. But they bring this shit themselves when they try to give a lore reason for everything and then retcon it all later. No one needed a lore reason for Pichu suddenly coming into existence so we do we need to know fairy was discovered.
If they're gonna try and make this shit tie into some semblance of lore then i'll give them shit when they just throw out their lore on a whim.
