I'm only gonna buy if I hear the most cynnical pokemon fans I know turn around and say it's good, and even then I'm still gonna do copious amounts of watching footage of the game in order to make my own call, because I can't trust anyone to not be a shill these days.
I already didn't by SwSh even though there was temptation. It's like quitting any other habit. Get through a full year, or generation in this case, and you're free of your addiction.
It also helps if you have interests outside of pokemon.
