Got to agree. At first I wondered if H-Qwilfish lacked a tail which could have been neat, but it is just how the profile shot is angled.
I think the difference is supposed to be that Qwilfish stings while H-Qwilfish squirts poison.

But yeah, could have totally been discarded and have regular Qwilfish evolve into OverQwil instead.

It's still not as unnecessary as G-Farfetch'd though.

Honestly I feel like Qwilfish is still worse - with Hisuian Sneasel as the worst offender. Truthfully, there's bad ones in every set - we didn't need Alolan Diglett either.

I do agree that Overqwil could have just come from regular Qwilfish, only reason they may have done it was because it would be weird to drop the water typing from a first form
