>>49365997It's more like it's one thing after another, rather than any one (1) big thing, but the switch to 3D is the closest I can think of. That's when the size difference issues became apparent, the shit animations were suddenly not something you could just headcanon away, and when the dungeons started getting pitifully simple.
Runner-ups:
1. The end to actual dick rivals that are meany-bo-beanies that apparently kids can't handle.
2. Turner becoming a full-time designer. (This one's a big one, IMO. I don't actually know how many designs he's responsible for, but holy shit man, I've hated/disliked 95% of the Pokemon that have been revealed since he got promoted.)
3. Those things like where you get to make your own little theme park or island or whatever where you upgrade the different things and get loads of free stuff.
4. The "stop you to give you more and more free things, or healing you at every cutscene" NPCs suddenly becoming 10x more common around XY or so.
5. Focus on cutscenes over you going and doing things yourself, watching things happen while characters talk and narrate and you just stand there like :)
6. The "kids have smartphones they don't like long games anymore" interview.
7. The "every game needs to have some HUGE gimmick like Z moves or Mega Evolution, rather than smaller gimmicks like breeding, genders and double battles.
8. That point when TPC got so huge that they make 90% of their profits off marketing and merch, rather than the games or the anime
>>49367564A shit design is a shit design, it doesn't matter if there's a good reason for it or not. If Ash's Pikachu turned purple with brown polka dots, and he grew three more ears because of a plot where TR had accidentally unlocked a new evolution in his body that lets Ash win another Pokemon League, it's still shit.
