I still hold on seeing if we can hunt the starters in PLA (as in the starter you chose at the beginning of the game, not in those zones that pop eventually), and how do we do it exactly before shiny hunting anything else.

It would be reset after the first cutscene or after hunting them, I don't thing they wouldn't appear shiny only after you pick your starter, which makes every reset quite tedious. That's also why I think they are shiny locked, they are part of cutscenes and it's always a coin flip with GF on either they put them shiny or not in that case.

I would've been fine with the flame being a lighter or darker shade of purple, but exactly the same? There's barely a difference between the shiny and normal in the first place, just the stripe being a slightly different shade of blue. Real disappointing, especially when H-Decidueye and H-Samurott have dramatic differences.

To be honest, shinies like these or the Galarian Birds are extremely boring to me. If you change the design of the mon and even change the colorscheme, why the fuck would you try to emulate the original one with the shiny ? It can work, like with Alolan Muk, but I feel most of the time it's a waste of a potentially good and original shiny.

I'm currently trying to get shinies of all the Ultra Beasts. I got super lucky and got Pheramosa on my first try, now I'm after Nihilego.

Honeslty I thought it would be fairly easy since I've been able to beat it consistently for the first 5 times or so, but now the NPCs have gone full stupid and keep getting rid of optimal pokemon in favor or ones that Nigilego can one shot.

Why are some shiny designs so fucking shitty, like how difficult is it to make an appealing pallet swap. Trying to make them look like their original forms isnt eye catching at all, I never get the point when they barely make changes to a shiny either, like making a Pokémon slightly darker. Why would someone go out of their way to find a rare Pokémon that barely looks different to its normal version.

I know in Gen 2 they basically said "use the colour next to this colour in the database" to make shines. And it sort of worked because there was only a max of 2 colours per sprite.
No idea what they do for the new ones

Like I said, I swear it has to be an AI. Thats the only way to explain how some shinies are basically their normal colors, or why some unevolved pokemon have amazing shinies that turn to utter shit when they evolve (I wish I had never let my shiny Skorupi evolve)

I have a question for anyone who is knowledgeable with the Gigantamax dungeon thing. Are NPCs preset on how they behave, and if so, are there any that, if I have them on my team, I should just reset?

I ask because theres this one karate NPC that has made me lose 3 or 4 times now. Most resent was in a batter against an Alolan Marowak. This shit head had a Politoad with a strong water and ground attack, and instead he kept using Helping Hand. By the time I got to Nihilego, all his moves were at full PP except Helping Hand, which he then proceeded to spam until we lost.

I'm trying to get a shiny Nihilego, and this idiot is wasting so much of my time.

we do know that there are ingame events where a specific mon will spawn more in a certain area with guaranteed(?) or at least higher odds of shinies bc the dialogue telling you when these events happen also mention that theres one with special colours. last i heard, no one knows of a method so far for influencing when these happen or for which species, so they might just be random

I have hunted in the safari zone before and I know the adrenaline you get if you can catch it or not but losing a shiny after doing 8000+ REs is hard for your motivation

Nothing exact at the moment in either Sun or UM. Just swap-breeding in hopes of hatching a Shiny.
I'm also occasionally taking time to chain-fish for a Shiny Horsea in Y.

It took 6 days of chain-fishing and during which I encountered 15 Shinies before I got the Shiny Relicanth I was hunting for in Y.
The game kept giving me Shiny Dragalges, and the few times I did get Shiny Relicanth the Synchronizer would always fail.

I drive by alphas with pokeballs on the sea level and i've gotten alpha lumineon and gyarados that way.
It's all good.
Worst case, just initiate battle and chuck pokeballs mid battle until you're dead and reset until RNG saves you.
it's totally doable.

I'm probably on bad luck though. I'd say your chance of seeing one in a playthrough is much higher than any regular pokemon game because most pokemon playthroughs you encounters about 200 wild pokemon before the 3rd gym, then another 200 for the rest of the game, whereas in arceus you'd see over 200 in each area, easy. So there's more RNG rolls going for you.

Hmm, I discovered something I think works, but it might be placebo.
If I initiate a battle with an alpha, damage it, then just walk away mid battle and hide in the grass, I can go back to repeatedly baiting it and hitting it in the back with heavy balls and it seems to be way better catch rate as if the damage I did is being counted.
It's worked 3 times now and it seems to be an improvement, but as i said it might just be placebo.

God bless that Garchomp, it basically won me the final post-game story battle.
And yeah, I think the issue with "over-leveled" wasn't too clearly explained in game and no one has done any major testing with it as everyone is playing the game for the first time still.
I'm pretty sure the Pokemon just disobey like they used to in gen 1 but they should still be catchable.

No, it's not full odds. With how frequently people are getting shinies and how few copies are circulating it's not possible. LGPE had overworld spawns and they weren't this frequent.

Then you look at something like Dragonair/Quarsire where they are just pink. Them and other shinies with one flat color change "feel" like there were made because they HAD to have a shiny form.

So every time you boot up a game that isn’t Emerald or Ruby/Sapphire with a dead battery, a new seed generates shinies randomly. This means you can soft reset, along with the fact that your shinies will be unique and can occur at random.
Emerald’s RNG is broken, which means you can’t soft reset and shinies will always appear at the same time, with the same stats, resulting in hunters finding ‘clones’ like pic related.
To get around this people usually just leave their console on permanently, but what this trick allows is for you to generate a random seed every time, so you don’t run the risk of clones. Soft resets are still broken however.

Shiny odds feel pretty high on outbreaks or it could just be that being able to catch 5 pokemon in 20 seconds to reshuffle it gets you through a lot more odds. This was my 4th outbreak.

Luckily he just got in the ball immediately but I do like seeing the crazy situation created here and it could have gone real bad.

i accidentally killed a shiny in an outbreak, and alt f4'd to my most recent autosave and shiny was there when i returned. there is clearly some manner of setting going on. i do not know if the waves after the initial spawns are locked, but at bare minimum the initial spawns of an outbreak are set.
