however, there were lines of his he would say if you lost a battle that were unusued in the final game, but were found in the game's code after it was released. I played a hack with those lines included and it can get pretty rough, especially considering the target audience. Like, "You didn't even have a chance. Hahaha, go home loser."
Otherwise, you're right. He even helps you out, gives you tips and tricks, etc. Tells you what ways are dead ends and which ways are worth your while. Even at the end of the game when he thinks he's the best trainer in the world, he still prefers you challenge him because he wants to keep on his toes, which is a backwards compliment to you
