I’m about halfway through the game (guessing, Pokémon are in the late 30s level wise) and it’s a blast to play, the one glaring flaw that’s holding it back and ruining a lot of the fun I’ve realized is that Gen IV’s Pokédex is fucking ass. 9/10 times you see a new Pokémon it’s not exciting. You go into the third area and the first thing you see is fucking purrloin. You climb upwards towards the quest giver at the end of a cliff and it’s just a long stretch of nothing but purrloin. Then you start seeing a fuckton of beautifly, aipom, starkly and mothim. It’s not until night in a specific area the quest directs you to that you finally get to see a Duskull, something that doesn’t suck a fat one.
