I liked the specials, but honestly they were marketed wrong or false advertising. This isn't really a Hisui arc, it's just a sequel to the Team Galactic arc from 2009. Arceus, the Lake Trio and Heatran are just tying into Diamond/Pearl's plots, other than the little Cynthia festival there's nothing Hisui related at all..

So the writers made their first big continuity error with Go's pokemon after 94 episodes, showing a Hoot Hoot at the lab he never captured. And it isn't like he just said he got it off-screen like the Lilligant or those other random captures like Drowzee...the Hoot Hoot was there for no reason.

I honestly wonders if the writers would make a mistake with the Pokemon he owns eventually. They probably thought he captured it back in the Ho-oh ep when it belonged to the old man

There might be an actual Hisui arc in the main anime at some point later on, I wonder if they didn't want to spoil any of the games plotlines before it came out. For all we know this is just a teaser, especially if they want to feature the starters alternate evolutions and all the other Hisui pokemon properly

50/50 chance that he still has it. The starters they caught disappeared after cynthia gave them books making it seem like they were just a fun catch test. If they still have them, then there's nothing stopping him from getting H-deci. the only question would be how? They aren't in hisui so if he evolves rowlet fully it'll only result in a regular decidueye. I guess dialga is still a thing huh. Also, imagine the meltdown vp will have if it happens

People should genuinely stop sucking Iwane off. The specials were really visually disappointing on a production level. The man's animation is only good in-comparison to how dogshit the rest of the show looks. The last time he animated a battle that looked genuinely good was episode 39 and maybe 51 if you want to be generous. God watching Journeys is such a bad visual experience.

Seeing Ash capture another Rowlett even though it was just for fun, when Rowlett also appeared this series in the first year, was really weird.

I feel weird whenever they make references to OG. The scene to which this episode is making reference (the Celadon Gym fire episode) happened over 20 years ago. I laughed internally when Ash said he "battled" Erika, given that he was getting curbstomped by her until TR broke in and caused the fire. He only got the badge as reward for him saving Erika's gloom.

The only part that looked oddly animated was that first scene of Ash/Go departing the boat to Sinnoh. Every other aspect/scene of the episode looked quite good, especially all the Heatran on fire shots.

So surprisingly they managed to cover every DP legendary except Manaphy/Phione and Shaymin so far:

- Dialga/Palkia/Arceus
- Darkrai and Cresselia
- Heatran
- Azelf/Uxie/Mesprit
- Regigas will be in Project Mew (they are collecting the Regi's)

I liked how they gave an arc to each one. Shaymin was on toy merch a lot so it's probably coming sooner than later. If Lana gets a cameo maybe her seeing Manaphy like she wanted in SM will happen too

He's been putting out absolute sleepers for a while now. Compare this to his solo key work on the XY specials for example and it's a night and day difference holy fuck. I have small feeling that they might still have them, won't pretend that I saw the episodes but if gou's mission is to catch every pokemon, keeping that cyndaquill is a must. And if gou keeps his starter what's stopping ash and dawn? Plus, I highly doubt we'll never see the Hisuian starters at some point in the actual anime

Most episodes don't move, the battles are consistently underwhelming, the character acting is virtually non-existent, like I can't say a single good thing about the production of the show besides that sometimes the music pops off.

Only good animators left in this horrible ass show are Oshida and Takagi. Wish they animated more, but things like Evolutions probably pays more. Just sad to see Oshida pop-off in episode 6 with an amazing scene that absolutely puts his work on JN to shame

Depends on the board. On /vp/ you can as long as it's been less than 30 minutes from creation, but you can only do it twice within the span of a few hours. I've done that a lot when I've made threads and I noticed that there were errors in them.

The ending shot shows the group with the starters they captured, but I don't think they took them with them. In the preview to next we see Inteleon/Cinderace, Piplup, Pikachu and Croagunk battling but not the new starters they got, so I don't think they took them after they left Cynthia's tent.

Also it would be hard to reconcile if a Cyndaquil randomly appears in Go's lab and Ash sends a second Rowlett to either Kukui or Oak's

I actually think the shorter runtime for these eps helped the pacing. The first ep was only 15 minutes and the second only 17, and less if you don't count the opening/ending. It helped the episodes get right to the point without feeling padded.

Goh had been on a public bus on his way home in episode 15 (and Ash too when he followed him) and while he didn't get shown inside, the bus drove off almost immediately. I doubt you ever get an actual answer to your question lol but I personally assume at the very least Goh and maybe Koharu have a bus pass for within the town because of school and Ash probably cash pays or got one from the professor. Dude gave him a smartphone out of nowhere and regularly pays plane tickets, so that shouldn't be a problem either.

The character acting? Now I fully agree the fights are generally underwhelming and lack in almost every aspect, especially when compared to XY. But what the Pokémon anime was always consistently terrible at was making the characters more expressive and bend the models to a point where they didn't look too stiff. Paired with the limited animation during those scenes it was really jarring. That's something PM definitely does better overall, which makes the scenes look less stiff while still maintaining the limited animation. The fact that most of the time it's just Goh, Ash and their Pokémon they have to worry about definitely helps. But even beyond that, PM has that weird habit of putting more care into the animation of the characters doing more mundane things or reacting to things than the hyped up moments like battles. It comes with the cost of the battles being visually mediocre at best, but it makes every other scene more entertaining to look at.
Of course it comes down to taste. If you prefer great battles and hype scenes, but lack of expressiveness over terrible battles and expressive characters, PM is bound to disappoint you. SM probably balances both better, but in return has very few short battles and the art style is hit or miss.
But me agreeing with your other criticisms aside, the character acting being nonexistent or worse than before is just objectively wrong.

Some-Stuffs said that subs for the Arceus special won't be out until February at the earliest. Apparently there are alternative subs out there but supposedly they're not very good, haven't seen them yet though. If you're really desperate, you could watch them if they really do exist.

OS (Kanto + Orange Islands, not that Johto shit) is comfy but the pokémon battles are very underwhelming.

I remember when this episode came out a lot of people complained because Mallow's mom being dead came out of nowhere, but it was actually hinted at several times since very early in SM

She's the only parent who was never shown or mentioned during family reunions or school plays (Lana's father took forever to appear, but it was mentioned before the series started that he rarely visited his family because of his job, so there was that excuse). During the Drampa episode we saw that, whenever her father was busy, he'd leave Mallow with Lana's mom instead of her own

They had it planned since the beginning

It's gotten more into continuity as it went on. The first year felt mostly stand-alone with barely anyone showing up, but now we have old characters return every few episodes.

So no surprise that he'd be excited to meet the guy his best friend and kind of idol talked about so much. What I'm thinking is that in reality people don't really care about seeing old characters again, they just think they do in their minds, and when old characters actually show up they realize it's really not that special besides some nostalgia.

While all the older Pokemon movies have been re-released in high quality (either at bluray or official online streaming services), when it comes to fansubs for said HD releases there are still some movies I can't find subtitles for them and instead there are only subs for English dub (even in rips with the Japanese audio like the ones from Judas): 6th, 7th, 9th and 12th Pokemon movie. Saying that "PM will end" or "Goh will leave" is almost as much of a trigger to /padt/ as Serena and Amour for some reason. It's as if people here just don't want to even consider the possibility of Goh leaving anymore. Even people who think he'll leave are open to the possibility of him staying (at least I am); on the other hand, from what I've seen it's the "Goh is staying" camp that seems to be more insistent and close-minded.

There's the "cope" image spammer (who's probably a shitposter, but still). There are also those anons who are insisting that Goh is definitely staying (rather than "Goh may stay", which is a more reasonable position) all because they claim that PM is "endless"/"different"/"has no subtitle"/"isn't tied to any region". There's a different between saying "Goh may be staying" and "Goh is definitely staying" and a lot of those people are the latter rather than the former.
