Just physical? That would put it ahead of New Horizons and place it higher than any other Switch game
What's your source? I follow famitsu threads on /v/ and sales communities and I have not seen anything to suggest it's tracking for a 2 million opening, preorders have it lower than BDSP at the same point before their respective launch

Textures and audio eats up most space in a game. Pre-rendered cutscene are also a major killer, but those are less common now for some reason

Remakes and remasters can't be called mainline since they are their own thing. Also, you are listening to GameFreak as if they were right and can't make mistakes? It's fucking GameFreak, they don't know shit about what they are talking about.
Look at the fucking definition of a spin-off, it's a game derived from already existing games that focus on more details and different aspects from the original work (e.g. particular topics, characters or events) : here, we focus on the past of other generations. By definition, it's a spin-off. It doesn't make it bad nor mean we will not get a series out of it but it will be spin-offs of the main series by pure definition, always.
Stop being stubborn guys and educate yourself. Words have a specific meaning for a reason. Because some dumbass company not even able to perfectly do their job since Gen 1 tells you to believe something they said doesn't mean you should.
