Rank 10 is 60000 points total. 242 pokemon and 100 points per lvl 10 entry and 20 points per task. Being generous and saying that you have to do 10 tasks per pokemon only gives you 48400 points for a full pokedex.
You need to do 12-13 tasks per pokemon to get tenth star.

I'm hoping this is just one of those korok poop situations. Then again, "complete the pokedex" could already be used since I can assure everyone that 99% of players do in fact not complete the entire pokedex. Most rarely even finish the regional.

Actually, I have no idea what the really per task reward is. Maybe it is 10 for regular and 20 for red, making tenth star even more hellish.

You usually get enough research points to unlock the dex entry by the time you've caught 6 and killed 6. Catching without being spotted and killing with a specific type move are usually also easy, as well as feeding, or catching at a specific time of day.
Then there's evolving, catching it and using a certain move, etc. but it depends on the mon.

Also anon that's insane progress, I thought I had been playing literally all day but I haven't even finished the game after 30 hours (been doing all sidequests I can).

Nobody feels like it, just like how this game hasn't really been datamined much. I could do such efforts myself, but I like it better this way. Discovering things gradually with other people is a fun change of pace with these things.

I ended up finding another fossil distortion so that I could complete the page. But then I forgot to complete oshawott's page before evolving it, so I'll have to go back to the distortions again.
I skipped almost all the sidequests, didn't even bother with the shiny ponyta one.

Pokemon obeying you is locked behind your research level and flying, surfing, and mount are locked behind story events, not noble pokemon. They're literally area bosses and nothing else.

Only completing tasks is very boring to me so I mix it up with sidequests. Doing those tends to help me do the tasks too as I get to expand the farm, get new recipes for smoke bombs, scatter bangs, etc, get more money and expand the shop's inventory.
