>>49398009Of course, I'm not saying 3D is inherently bad. I still have hope for a good 3D pokémon game. But the transition to 3D should have been accompanied by a deep change in the gameplay and the way the maps are designed, which has clearly not been the case so far. This is what was done for Mario and Zelda at the time of the 64, more than 20 years ago! GF could have, should have been inspired by that.
Or else keep the same gameplay, and stay in 2D by focusing on other things: the beauty of the scenery, the atmosphere, the story, the originality of the plot, the characters, etc...
And yet, the choices that have been made are ALWAYS those of laziness, of oversimplification. I remember that I almost threw my DS away when I saw, in Sun/Moon, the moment when the road is blocked by this big dog. It's stupid! And they do it 3 times in a row! I mean, it works in the blue and red versions, because it's in 2D, everything is visually simplified, but in 3D you can see right away that it's an excuse to block your way, with no attempt at realism whatsoever. They don't give any attention to that. The same goes for the ledges to jump on the side of the road, or the bushes to cut. Seriously, you feel like you're playing a mongoloid who can't climb a 1m high wall or bend down to go under branches. Honestly, it pisses me off so much, this carelessness.
Once again, if they didn't want to bother finding good reasons to make us take one path rather than another, to block our way or to make us do actions in a precise order (which Metroid has been doing much better for the last 30 years), no worries, but stay in 2D. In 3D, it's obvious that they just don't give a damn about their universe or the quality of their games.
