Frostbite is stupid. Special attackers did not need any more nerfs and making a special equivalent of Burn reducing Attack is sterilization of game mechanics.

In Gen 6 when they introduced the Assault Vest and nerfed the base power of tons of special moves.

How does introducing a new status condition help Ice-type? Lots of Pokémon that aren't Fire-type or Electric-type can inflict Burn or Paralysis with Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave. If anything, Frostbite is mainly going to be inflicted by non-Ice-type Pokémon just like how everything loves running Ice Beam or Ice Punch but doesn't actually want to be an Ice-type.

Special moves are weaker than physical moves on average. The whole point is that physical is high risk high reward with a whole bunch of accurate powerful attacks that can quickly get fucked over by Intimidate/Burn/Recoil/Rocky Helmet/etc while special is more reliable but weaker.

How if frostbite lowered Sp.Def instead? That way it's not a copy of burn, and it would be a method of soft-"wall breaking" mons that abuse Regenerator/recover instead of buffing them, like current frostbite does.

Freeze and Sleep don't translate well to Legends' battle system, so they were replaced with Frostbite and Drowsy.

Honestly love this status.
Before, statusing yourself with only reserved for Guts users and in BH with Magic Guard and something like Mega Aerodactyl.
If there is a Frostbite Orb, Facade might actually see usage outside of Guts. Quick Feet would also actually be useful now that you don’t have to halve your attack to on physical attackers.

Ice needed a better status condition. As it stands, Freeze is just a better (but much harder to induce) version of sleep. Freeze and Hail being replaced with Frostbite and Snow is a change I don't mind.

It's a buff because Freeze is so hard to induce + the new Snow weather (replacement for Hail) makes Pokemon even more likely to get Frostbite
