honestly the thing that drags down the games for me is their poor level curve and "open world" design

making 3 of the gyms completable in any order makes the middle of the game feel like a drag, and unfortunately it kinda needs kanto to stop the game feeling like a drag in the second act

if the game was remade with a better level curve and scaling based off of badges, while making team rocket actually feel worth a damn, johto would would feel pretty good.
as it is though, the region is bogged down by shitty design

Kanto is objectively the worse part of Gen 2, even diehard Gen2 fans realize this. It wraps the level curve, takes Gen 2 pokemon that should have been in Johto, and is a barren boss rush with nothing do.

To this day I haven't played Crystal or HGSS.
I played Gold a shit tonne as a kid, I'm waiting for Drayano's 2nd rom hack of HGSS to begin playing, he said a little while ago it should be done this year.

Cyndaquil is my favourite pokemon, I dislike the fact in newer games its fire goes out, makes it look really fucking weird, so despite that it's my favourite, in Arceus I went for Gen 5 water starter.

p.s. Gen 6 was the start of the decline

Pretty sure most loved is Kanto considering it's had multiple remakes, even gets added in gen 2 and its remake, and Sinnoh got the abortion that is/was BDSP.

Stop fucking saying this like it's a bad thing. What other postgame in Pokémon isn't a boss rush of some form? The only good ones are the Battle Zone in Pt and Kanto in HGSS. Fucking retarded cunts I swear. Blasting through all the Gyms and seeing Kanto in Gen 4 graphics is the best part of HGSS.

Years of propaganda slowly failing allowing more opinions to be heard. Any discussion that wasn't complete blind praise of Johto was just covered up for years, and now there aren't enough Johto fans left to do it completely. The same thing happened with Sinnoh, they just weren't as desperate with the remakes coming.
You can go search "johto flaws" or similar phrases and see posts 8+ years old saying exactly what people say now, with the exact same denial by Johto fans that the problems actually existed.
