It's boring as fuck. Unironically and no meme horeshit. Yeah it's cool that it's finally open world and we now have seamless battles and capturing but holy shit it's so lacking. The world itself is just barren and feels terrible even without taking into account the technological limitations.

Unironically correct, if you prefer ludus to paidia. When given infinite options, some people do nothing. Or occasionally, do everything and suck the fun out of it. A more limited challenge can be way more interesting. The ideal way of doing it is to give the player many options to tackle one challenge, but whatever.

Do you get more traversal options? Are all the maps still just flat areas with gentle slopes that you move across by walking? Does the gameplay loop change at all or do you still just walk to the predetermined spot where "x" Pokemon spawns and then just fight it over and over?

The world feels alive, there’s so much to do, and I’ve never been so immersed in a Pokémon game. I’ve also never felt so vulnerable in a Pokémon game.

This game could easily be the foundation for everything we’ve ever wanted a Pokémon game to be.

Is it perfect? Of course not, it’s their first attempt. But if they use this as the basis for all future games, I’d be very happy. I’d be happy if they at least use it for the future remakes.

I really hope this isn’t a one and done thing like Let’s Go was.

And it's not meant for everyone, that's for sure. It's fun for me but I'm not blind, it has its issues and it's fair people would have some critism.
To be honest, GameFreak has always had this bad habit of being behind technologically speaking when creating games. But this lack of quality is less apparent on handheld consoles, and even less in 2D, more for older games which we all know were kinda experimental still so we tended to give games of that era some slack back then. But on a 3D game, which seems to have had less time, ressources and focus, you can feel they are so behind. And they don't care, they win so much just because it's Pokémon, so it's safe for many parents and adults with nostalgia to buy these games. Sadly, if GameFreak don't want to change, they won't.
Also, I will say this : thanks for not saying it's just shit but stating it as your opinion.

Yes, climbing, swimming, flying.

First two maps already have areas that are hard to access on foot, but yeah, uou get more caves/tunnels/mountains on newer maps.

There is an addition of Alpha pokemon which are high risk/high reward, Space-Time rifts which spawn rare items and pokemon at the expense you getting your shit kicked in if you're not careful, a few trainer battles in the story progression, bosses are somewhat varied in attack patterns.

It... well...I guess it depends what you like...
BW2 was the peak of Pokemon for me, I think Arceus does some interesting things but it's more of a test of systems and new ideas than anything else. There's also some bad ideas, I just hope Game Freak take what's good and mix it with older ideas of the series for Gen 9.

If you like catching a lot of Pokemon, it's a good game, if you like battling and fighting trainers, having a good time fighting gyms and puzzles, fighting elite 4, champion, etc, then it's not so fun. I guess if you also like Sinnoh history and lore it's good. Combat is also simplified.
Seeing some of the stuff that's implemented but put in a normal region would be good though.

Honestly though it could be another Let's Go moment wherein the following games just ignore the good things they achieved. Like adding the cool catching mechanic

Mind the fact it's continuing off from what CT was doing, even as it goes experimental, taking a canon mainline protag to a past time in the same region. It's nowhere near an orre situation, as much as you NEED it to be. Game Freak decide what's mainline and what isn't and they say anything done by them featuring their creations is mainline. I know 4chan has rotted your brain and /vp/ filled it with foam to replace it and get you plugged into the hivemind but all that means is there a whole shitload of you idiots in the wrong.

It's funny you think it's mainline when it's in the same generation as Sword and Shield, you really think they made two mainline games that weren't remakes or 3rd version in the same generation?

SwSh was A team, BDSP was outsourced, Legends was B team (other project) Gen 9 will be A team.

Yeah. See I played the DLC and saw what they were doing. So when they announced Legends and started revealing all about it, I understood why.
And for all intents an purposes, it IS a Sinnoh remake, albeit done in the core game style free camera, open zone presentation the rehash version was based around as opposed to the grid-based, top-down fixed camera jobbie the whos made.
