What you're proposing feels like the same old song and dance, just immersed in a different role. I've had the same idea about playing as the evil team as I'm sure many others have, but it needs to go hand in hand with gameplay shakeups for me to be interested beyond appreciating the concept. I think this disconnect comes from the fact that all of us disgruntled fans have their own personal grievances with the franchise. Most were content with the state of things (if a bit underwhelmed) until the disaster that was Sword and Shield. I was done with Pokemon the second I finished Moon because yes, the graphics suck, it's too easy, dexcut shouldn't be a thing... but the biggest issue for me will forever be the stale, basic, handholdy gameplay. I tried playing two of the DS games I missed out on a while back and I just couldn't do it. I can't force myself to play the traditional, supposedly good Pokemon anymore.
Arceus is pretty much exactly what I wanted. I had something similar pictured in my mind ever since the early days of the Switch, down to it taking place in the open wilderness, crafting your own Poke Balls and aiming to throw instead of just pressing a button.
