They either make monsters that looks straight out of a cheap knockoff mobile game, or they look too animalistic and rugged, as if they're more wild creatures that you should be hunting and not befriending. It's a fine very fine balance. Even pokemon slips up on that more often these days, but they have so many good designs already in the bank that it doesn't hurt the brand.
