I like both of them more than the originals, I wish more hacks had as many QOL changes as FRLG+, that's by far my favorite type of hack

Any gen 4 hack with unlocked FPS and speed patch, and Radical Red. Sinking Sapphire was good too.

Usually yes since they are upgrades.

Right now I'm playing Renegade Platinum with following pokemon patch, which is probably the best hackrom right now, unless HGSS has a Speed patch too for Sacred Gold (if theres any please let me know)

Polished Crystal, one of the better QOL hacks. They just started beta-testing their new release that adds back in the mons they initially cut to make room for later gen evos, and with its projected updates it's well on the way to being the gold standard for a QOL hack.

I can't play pokemon hacks. I'm fine playing hacks of literally anything else. But pokemon seems to personal to me. I either transfer them to something like Stadium or the next generation up to use in post game battle facilities. I still have pokemon from the mid 2000's on my 3DS.

Knowing my Pokemon in a hack will never see the light of day once I finish my fame makes pokemon hacks feel pointless to me.

Only hack I was able to do was Ash Grey because it was literally just an anime simulation.

I played it many years ago, I don't know if it's been updated significantly or not since then. But it is quite literally an anime simulator. You do everything in the anime, even the less memorable episodes, and there's not much deviation, your team is also pretty much the same as Ash's. Same with releases.

It's a cute novelty for fans of the OS anime, and nothing more.

I really wanna like Polished Crystal because the new additions and QoL stuff are super impressive for a GBC ROM hack, but it's just the little stuff that kills it for me.

These are the ones I remember off the top of my head. I enjoy the GBC era the most. Looking for more on GB or GBC. Not totally against GBA ones but I'm not really into the Radical Reds and those types.

What are some of the extras you are doing? I remember completing some of the quests but I mostly enjoying running through a region when I play and moving on.

Aside from what I mentioned, I still have half of the Battle Frontier to defeat and an Insane difficulty run to try. I'm not totally into this kind of autism, but I've reached a point where it's so easy to train and max Pokémons that I might as well do it.

Part of the problem for me is that I don't really have anywhere else to go, but also because I like to hoard things, so it isn't odd for me to play the same shit for months and months. For reference, I still have my gen 3 legit living dex and saves that are more than 10 years old.

I was switching around and trying a few 'mons since it's easy to level-up them after a certain point, but my starter was Gible and I used Rimbombee a lot too. I hope you enjoy Unbound as much as I do, anon. It's a good game, hard but fair.

Same as original games. You don't have to care about IVs, EVs or natures. In fact, you can't even see them in your summary screen.

It used to be the default difficulty, meaning that you're advised to play on it if you aren't completely clueless about Pokémon but also doesn't want hard challenges.

>expert
Decent AI, boss battles requires basic tinkering and understanding of team composition, etc... If you EV train and use perfect IVs it kinda feels like a better difficult mode though, which can be "too easy" at times.

>insane
Unfair, made to drive you nuts. Almost every boss battle will have a gimmick of some sort, you will have to switch a lot between team members and might even need to train specific monsters for very specific situations. Expert and Insane both unlocks a Sandbox mode for you to use in case you don't want to grind, but most insane players use it as a tool to simulate different teams.

A sands team is pretty nice to use. I built one myself when I was doing my monoground E4 attempt. If you already beat the game, it might be nice to play using the NG+ feature just so you don't start completely from scratch.

i played pokemon vega and it wasnt great. apparently i played an outdated version but the game had a really bad level curve and the story went to shit near the end. still kinda had fun but i wouldnt recommend.

clover was great and fun if you can tolerate fakemon and 4chan humor

pokemon prism is cool

anything by drayano is amazing

You can bring to a new playthrough 6 pokémons and a ton of important key items (like the Portable PC or the Shiny Charm), the upgrade levels of your items (amulet coin, lucky egg, power items, etc...) and your pokédex progress. I think some puzzles will also be solved already.
