What does it matter? It's not like Arceus is made for "competitive" play in mind anyway, it's a single player adventure. For once you can actually NOT worry about "muh meta" and have fun with whatever Pokemon you want.

Besides, the comp meta is just going to be the same ten Pokémon at the top being used on every fucking team anyway.

Because Game Freak hates some Pokemon, it isn't even that they hate any one region or type in particular its that the programmers arbitrarily designate certain Pokemon as scapegoats, who else do yo explain none of the Legends Starters getting actually becoming good (you'd think at least one of them out have become meta by accident but the fact the they all suck prove that they just hate these starters).

They chose three starter final evos which were not very good statistically, and then barely changed them. No wonder they didn't improve much at all. The only hope is for some of the changed battle mechanics to benefit them in spite of this, like the new sun effect helping out Decidueye's speed. I guess their signature moves don't seem too bad either, but that's a bit of a monkey's paw with choices like Typhlosion losing Eruption and Fighting Decidueye not getting CC.

This is most likely from Eruption simply not being in the Legends, many other Pokemon lost many good moves from their movepools (it seems many strong moves just aren't in Legend such as Earthquake and Scald). It would more than likely get it back in the next game.

Not saying h-Decidueye is good or anything but it's not a completely unusable mon. Let's think about this, yes, h-lil has the speed he wanted but lil is more fragile and hits less(no-one smart will risk hustle h-lil) Decidueye has priority something h-lil doesn't have. Assuming all grass types get the speedboost in sun in future titles, H-Decidueye will be running shit in NU with that new signature move of his + the 120 in sun. All he really needs is leafblade and triple arrows, swordsdance and sucker punch. And if h-decidueye and a-decidueye are able to get each others signature moves via breeding then a-decidueye gets a big buff as well, triple arrows a-decidueye will get kicked out of NU if not get suspected

Triple arrows lowers the both of the opponents defenses + boost crit chances. It opens bulky steel types won't be too much of a problem. Heck, I can even argue he can make openings to kill Pokemons he shouldn't be able to with that move.

All stats changes affect both the physical and special stat in Legends (swords dance increase both Atk and SpA, Calm Mind increases SpA,Atk,SpD,Def, etc). It will likely be changed to only affect physical defense in later games.

Usually they make one of the starters fast, so Decidueye is really an anomaly. It would definitely do better with those stats, however if you gave it a meme speed of 102 it would be that much better since it can outspeed other base 100s. So I would take 2 points off attack and move it to speed.

(GF would still nerf H-Decidueye to 92)

Knowing how much gf hates decidueye, this is most likely the case. But on the off chance it lowers both defenses(since they want to make Decidueye a mixed attacker so badly) it could be huge. Since we now know it gets Spikes, it can more or less fulfill the role of a more specially bulky Chesnaught(at the cost of physical bulk).
Losing out on Bulletproof sucks, but maybe Triple Arrows can make switching in on H-Decidueye a scarier prospect than Chesnaught.
Either way, it getting Spikes is a huge boon. Even if it ends up a bit worse than Chesnaught, that means it will still have a workable place in the mid/low tiers. In any gen that doesn't have Chesnaught, H-Deci might fill his shoes.

Well, h-typhlosion has his/her good parts suck as, fire/ghost typing witch makes it immune to fighting and normal moves, 119 special attack and a strong almost spammable ghost signature move.

Some possible problems side is that it's slower than normal(which may or may not matter much depending on which tier he's/she's in.

Downside is he's very shadowsneak sucker punch weak. And bulky waters might wall him as well.
I'd say, ou and uu are out of his reach, but ru will be fine middle ground but if he falls to nu he might be a menace.

i can't see the "specially defensive variant of chesnaught" niche working out, to be honest.
grass/fighting is a typing best suited to checking physical attackers, as it resists common types like ground, dark, and rock, whereas the majority of its weaknesses are primarily seen on special moves that it won't be sponging regardless of its bulk and special defense investment.
also the lack of bulletproof cannot be understated, the mere presence of chesnaught deters clicking any of the affected moves on a choice mon which is absolutely huge to have.
basically, i don't have high hopes, or even low hopes for that matter.

Legends doesn't have those moves as tutors nor does it have egg moves. H. Typhlosion could very well gain those moves if gets into a non-Legends game since Shadow Sneak is a ghost type move and Sucker punch is commonly learned by ghosts. Despite Game Freak hating Typhlosion for 20+ years, Game Freak actually seems weirdly generous with giving it moves of its own type and physical coverage moves.(it even gained Drain Punch for some reason). If it got Shadow Sneak it might actually justify having 84 Attack and help it deal with faster Ghosts.

unfortunately, as i said earlier, its defensive capabilities are greatly limited due to its typing not working well with its stats.
it's not enough to just set spikes, tons of mons can do that. what it needs is things it can effectively check, and RU and NU simply don't have a lot of mons that it does well against.
i just can't see it being higher than PU, at least without a massive shaking-up of NU's current meta.

yeah, that's about all it can really do.
main issue with that is that RU is an immensely hostile environment for a grass/fighting type, so it'll have to compete for the grass type hazard removal niche down in NU.
and there's already three mons competing for the role down there, so it could have a tough time there too.
honestly, thinking about it more, i could see it working with a few minor meta shifts, like tsareena heading back up to RU for example.
only time will tell.

At least Decidueye gets two usable stab moves, Overqwil literally only gets dark pulse and basculegion only has shadow ball for ghost, zero physical moves for both

The latter gets Calm Mind at least, which iirc boosts both offenses and defenses, so a mixed female set is a bit more doable

I know, What I meant was that even though H. Typhlosion is weak to shadow sneak/sucker punch, it could gain those moves itself and be a threat to other ghosts too, especially since most ghosts have low defense and H. Typhlosion actually has comparatively high attack among ghosts.

Further research has me leaning towards it being a monk, given it loses Ghost for Fighting and its "clothing" becoming basically scraps tied together, tying into the Buddhist way of wanting for nothing. It's an easy mistake to make though, samurai and wanderers would take on the garb of the bhukki to pass through areas.

Decidueye can possibly still learn Close Combat through TR/TM in the future. He will also get Shadow Sneak and Sucker Punch due to Rowlet in previous gens. Overall though, It's hard to say how good he will be given how this game focuses solely on singleplayer.

It’s not just owls they hate. They obviously don’t really care about any of these starters. Only Samurrot is a directly improvement stat wise and even that one still sucks. Game Freak decides to be based for once and give love to neglected starters by picking them for legends, then Game Freak blue balls us for a year, then when they game is out. it’s turns out the starters got fuck all got buffed. We all know that if CHARIZARD or the other Kanto starters were picked to star in a game, Game Freak would have given them broken special snowflake forms, broken abilities, insane movepools, a broke signature move that damages goes for 5 turns will they turn into Kaiju and the entire region would worship CHARIZARD as a god and CHARIZARD would be optimized to be the perfect Pokémon, meanwhile the Legends starters basically get fuck all because all of a sudden Game Freak conveniently forgets how to buff Pokémon. Why does game freak hate them?
