>>49409695It seems like they were unwilling to make Hisuian Braviary physically weaker than Rufflet, so they kept its Attack at 83 and had to steal stats elsewhere to make its Special Attack respectable. I kind of get it, but I honestly would’ve preferred if they just committed to making it special and swapped its offenses. That or kept it physical to distinguish it from other Psychic/Flying types.
As it is, it’s an awesome design and the movepool’s not half bad. Aura Sphere would’ve been nice, and it will have to wait for transfers to see if it gets Focus Blast (maybe) or Heat Wave (almost definitely). For now, Mystical Fire and Dazzling Gleam make solid coverage.
I’m also curious about Esper Wing. It raises action speed, which in PLA is the equivalent to priority, and it has 75 power and an increased crit rate. That’s pretty awesome for a Pokémon as sadly slow as Hisuian Braviary. Unfortunately, heightened crit rates don’t proc Sheer Force, so in a standard battle game it wouldn’t get that boost unless it becomes a Flame Charge-like move, and then it would lose its main selling point over Psychic.
