Same deal with PLA, as much as GF says it's mainline, it can never be considered as such since the definition of a spin-off applies perfectly to PLA, aka delving into the past of an already existing game : it doesn't mean it's not going to be a primary serie in the franchise in the future, which isn't the same and is probably what they meant by saying PLA is "mainline".
People can seethe at seeing the word spin-off when talking about PLA because somehow GF can't be wrong about what they say, but having ESLs being stuck with the literal traduction of what GF said doesn't mean we should let the definition and ethymology of words we say be misused. It's a primary serie of game and a spin-off, both are not contradictory. And yes, I like PLA in case some thinks I want to call it a spin-off just to shit on it or whatever. I just like the truth and exactitude in things.
