Let me explain to you what my past two days have been.

>Go to one of four spots in the entire game that has about 4 basculin.
>Need it to be an alpha - No guaranteed alpha for Basculing so 5% spawn chance.
>Need the alpha to be female - One of those asymmetrical species so 5% spawn chance (Never even seen an alpha and only ever got 3 females)
>Need the alpha female to be shiny - What is the point of even living any more?

You want a very specific pokemon with a very specific set of random variables, of course that's going to be hard to obtain, always has been.
My question is why the autism, why does it matter to you if it's an alpha or if it's a shiny. If you want to shiny hunt that's fine, but both shinies and alphas are specifically rare factors designed to be rare.

The few trainer battles require battling, but every other fight can hypothetically be done without actual fighting, you just have to keep throwing balls to catch/calm the pokemon no matter how strong it is.
Oh and I guess the first legendary dragon you fight also requires you to fight since you can spam balls but you also have to send your mon even if you don't tell him to attack
