The IV system may be practically the same as Effort Levels, but the EV system appears to be more similar to the Awakening Values system in LGPE where you can put 200 in each stat or the old EV system where you have a max of 65535 in each stat, rather than the Gen 3-8 system where you have a total 510 EVs that you have to balance between six different stats (e.g. 252-6-252).

you can only use bottle caps on level 100 mons, you get plenty of grit items during the game
IVs have a range of 0 to 31, these have a range of 0 to 10 and only range from 0 to 3 in the wild
You can easily max out your grit during a playthrough, in most games you don't even get access to bottle caps before the postgame.

Anyway, lots of hacks are now incorporating radical red's no grinding mode, so enjoy grinding for grits if gamefreak decides to use the new mechanic in future games

IVs aren't really grinding, it's essentially a shite lottery. you're rolling on too many things at the same time and there's no in-game way to improve them save bottle caps, which are essentially non-farmable in the games i've played

EVs are grinding and that's fine except with EVs in Gen 3 onward you can grind 'wrong', since you can't max out every stat anymore
