If Pokemon could shrink, every fucking battle would be this. It'd be nothing but them abusing their shrinking ability to dodge each other's attacks. Battles would never end if attacks could just be dodged that easily.

My headcanon is that Pokeballs condense the atoms making them up. Majority of an atom is empty space, so nothings actually shrinking just the things making it up coming closer and denser.

Bite = かみつく (kamitsuku), the verb "to bite"
Rest = ねむる (nemuru), the verb "to sleep"
Minimize = ちいさくなる (chiisaku-naru), the verb "to become small/shrink"
Hyper Beam = はかいこうせん (hakai kousen), the noun "destruction beam"

Bite, Sleep, and Minimize aren't "specialized" techniques, they're simple actions used as techniques.
