I always preferred the Weather Trio to the Creation Trio anyway and Giratina (my favorite of the Creation trio) already has a cool Origin forme, so I don't mind. Palkia is the ugliest box legendary (except for arguably the Kyurem forms). Just look at its feet.

i was repulsed by the designs at first but now after seeing them in game and in the tcg artwork it's a bit clearer what they were going for. i don't think the execution is quite there, but the idea of otherwordly gods in pokemon is unprecedented, so i can appreciate that much. not even ultra beasts went this far with the weirdness.

They look better in-game. That said, Palkia looks better. Dialga looks...unfinished, especially in the front leg area. It just looks unbalanced from the front and top to the back/bottom.

I still wish they got something to make them more broken, though. If not a BST increase they could have at least given them a new ability or item like Arceus' Legend plate.

I just really wonder what the reasoning was behind Dialga and Palkia's shitty new designs. New forms of Sinnoh's legendaries had a lot potential evident by Giratina, but they just wanted to make more legendary horses for whatever reason

I never cared about the Weather Trio before or after OR/AS. Though since I prefer humanoids over kaijumons, the only there I like is Palkia, and I think Origin is slightly better.

dont get me wrong, i love both Giratina forms and think they look cool, but acting like O-Giratina is somehow a great design that O-Dialga and O-Palkia "had the potential to live up to but didnt" is laughable. O-Giratina looks cool enough, but it really isnt anything special. basically the equivalent of the base form T-posing with some tentacles instead of wings. I'd honestly put it on par with O-Dialga/O-Palkia in terms of "decent but not amazing"

I don't really understand the lore or purpose of the alternate forms for Dialga/Palkia. The dex for Palkia says it wants to look like Arceus so it can maybe get more of its power, which seems silly. Like if I put on a fake muscle body suit in order to be strong like a body builder. And why did they change so drastically to look like dinosaurs in the first place then? They exist outside of the constraints of time/space.

What only pisses me off from Palkias design is the fact that it has horse like legs, especially the hoofs
Palkias legs were already neat, unique, inhuman looking why reduce & degrade them to a fucking horse when its a monster /god.
It was already stupid enough that they didn't expand on Palkias original stance(bipedal)
which made Palkia stand out more from the rest of them but they just had to insert half a horse for its body other than that solid designs.

It's not looking like Arceus what makes it stronger, retard. It looks like Arceus BECAUSE it's closer to Arceus, not the other way around.
The change itself makes Palkia Arceus-like and that includes looks, not only power.

You are right about the dinosaur part then, it makes no sense for Dialga and Palkia to have origin forms.

The design process probably went like this

Legend Plate is unironically a better service to Arceus than what a new origin form.
Making Judgement change type to be super effective against every Pokemon is just flat out broken, effectively doubling or quadrupling its Special Attack and doesn’t have to worry about things like type based immunities or resistances.

yea thats probably how it went

haha ive been sketching this up and we both did the same thing with palkias legs here

but yea i can see why giritina's origin form is the way it is. it exaggerates his centipede elements and makes him more floaty and etheral. i can sort of see where the centaur look comes from with palkia since its original deisgn feels kinda knight/pegasus-y. i just pulled more elements from its original design into here, like the tail and the lines on the belly. i think moving the arms down would be better though looking at urs now actually.
