Masuda is a coward, simple as. He's too scared to actually take any risks in fear of losing sales. I bet he had no involvement in making BDSP's postgame which is why the gym leader/E4 rematches are so good. Someone else develops Legends and what happens? High level alpha pokemon, AI that uses styles properly, and a trainer that technically uses 8 pokemon, and the story is more mature and talks about death.

And by Gen 9 he’ll be back and all the cool shit from PLA will be gone. Walking around during battles will be gone in favor of a “traditional” battling experience and because implementing it in PvP would be near impossible, open world gone for routes, alphas reverted to normal sized Pokemon in HOME, etc and you’ll all be complaining again about Masuda lmao

Don't worry, Legends is its own thing, Gen 9 will be like Gen 8, it's not going to change. It's too easy to make big money with the old formula, why change. So they won't, you can chill, you don't have to feel attacked by PLA.

I wouldn't say "worse" per se, stagnating was the right choice you made first : stagnation doesn't mean things get worse, just they don't evolve and adapt enough to not become toxic in a way. The games are technically getting better because better systems but, in reality, are not evolving on the core principals, not implementing anything revolutionnary or taking risks, unlike other big names. So, we got a copy-paste for now 8 Generations and soon 9. That's a sad reality, they are afraid of taking risks and make enough to not have with
the mainline games.
Legends on the other hand might become its own serie on the side if it sells well so things are not looking so bad for anyone liking it. And maybe, the next one will blow some minds, enough even maybe to make Masuda and co. realize they have to put some effort now in the main serie, and maybe it will help. Or not, we will see.

I know its become a meme to complain about this around here, but the current stat system is harshly biased against mons with mixed attacking BST spreads. For the average mixed attacker (pseudos and legends need not apply), it is basically never optimal to take advantage of both offenses, since you've already invested all of your EVs into one offense (plus speed, usually), so you may as well make sure all of your attacks take advantage of that. This is overcome by just naturally having a large BST naturally, but for pokemon like Nidoking and Cacturne, all of that BST into the other offense is basically wasted BST points, while pokemon that have more min-maxed BST spreads have a clear advantage, since that BST more geared into stats they actually use, like bulk or speed. The reward for having a less min-maxed BST spread (meaning you get higher dual offenses at the cost of bulk and speed) should be that you get to fire off both offenses effectively.
