Why was it named Wartortle when it had nothing to do with War? (it's pertaining more towards Nature of the ocean / waves)
It's like they messed up the theme and fixed it in the final evolution.

That's only its localized English name, "Kameil" has none of those connotations. Should be noticed that the name is the very last thing you give to a character during the design phase.

This is literally the only official evidence we have, there's nothing that may lead us to believe it would have that sort of elongated snout. Even more ridiculous how the head it's somehow less wide than Wartortle despite the sprites showing the opposite.

Doubt anyone cares about the illustration/this specific interpretation of the design in particular. You must be the only one focusing on it. We only care for the way it showcases what we could have had if the final form was not a departure from wartortle's theme/design.

More like Ivysaur -> Venusaur imo, but either way the issue was that Poliwrath's previous form was more tadpole than frog/toad so changing more was a sensible expectation to have for it. Especially since Poliwrath looks shit both as a standalone design AND when compared to Poliwhirl, and hardly looks like a frog/toad at all. Anyway, beta Poliwrath is who we really need back.
