This. GameFreak are not good at their job anyway, being wrong or contradictory or pulling shit out of their ass isn't even a surprise anymore. It's the same people PLA "mainline" when it's a serie of games about the past of the original games, so a spin-off by pure definition, and people will just use the "GameFreak said it so it's true" as a cope when they do shit like this instead of just saying Legends will be its own main serie of games, which is different than "mainline".

I agree with him. PLA is blatantly a direct spin-off of Diamond and Pearl. Not in the Pokemon "Mystery Dungeon is a spin-off because it's not mainline" sense, but it's an actual spin-off in the same sense as something like Planet Sheen.
