Hopefully they fix the fucking gym leader teams, there's literally no reason for Falkner not to have Noctowl or Xatu, Bugsy not to have Ledian or Ariados, Morty not to have Misdreavus, or Jasmine to not have Skarmory Forretress or Scizor

Forretress was supposed to be discovered by yourself. The new trade evolutions were also supposed to be discovered by yourself, so if you want her to have Scizor then you have to remove Steelix.

Gold being the Mt. Silver boss this time around would be interesting, but what pokemon would he use? Red uses a mix of the most iconic pokemon from Kanto with all 3 starters. I'm thinking maybe Ethan's team would look something like

>Meganium
>Feraligatr
>Heracross
>Umbreon
>maybe Crobat, or Espeon?

It would be fun if they made him a more concrete character though. We usually see Ethan depicted with Typhlosion, and he used a Donphan in the anime. Could be fun to give him a Tangrowth or Venusaur to reference to the Pokegear calls too

Fixed level range, johto pokemon in johto not kanto, gym leader teams fixed. Also only one version and the link cable evolution item back. Held items and breeding back. Battle tower that doesn’t utilize avs (if you enter you’re reduced to 0). Option to switch between go style catching and old school battles

What reason could you possibly have to NOT want improvement? Even if you already enjoy the game, would a remake having slightly different teams really ruin them? If your enjoyment is that fragile, is it possible the games aren't as perfect as you thought?

This became a thing later on when regions became their own thing. Johto was always just an expansion of Kanto. So them using primarily gen 1 Pokemon makes sense. Plus, the gen 2 Pokemon were newly discovered and discovering them was the job of you, the PC.

Asides from the starter trio, there's Heracross, Donphan, Skarmory, Xatu, Tyranitar, Ampharos, Piloswine, Sudowoodo, Crobat. They would all fit great for a final boss fight.

A Legends game that starts in Johto, then leads to Kanto, but also shows the other areas of Japan that haven't been in pokémon games yet
They could make each japanese region a semi-open world area like the 5 ones we have in Hisui, but bigger. Something like

>Kanto Plains (Kanto)
>Sinjoh Glaciers (Tohoku)
>Hojoh Hills (Chugoku)
>Cyan Island (Shikoku)
With Hokkaido obviously excluded since we have Hisui, and Kyushu because Hoenn deserves its own Legends game in the future

Because it just makes sense, and it'd fix some of the boring team composition of the Johto gym leaders. Comparing the Sinnoh and Hoenn leagues, every gym leader in Sinnoh uses at least one pokemon from Sinnoh, and every gym leader save for Watson uses a Hoenn pokemon as an ace in gen 3. With the exception of Norman, not a single gym leader from either the Hoenn or Sinnoh leagues uses two of the same pokemon, or even 2 pokemon from the same evolutionary line except for Candice. Meanwhile, 3 of the 8 Johto gym leaders use multiple of a single species of pokemon, and 2 more use 2 pokemon from the same evolutionary line, with Falkner's team literally just being a single evolutionary line. It's lazy team design and leads to people thinking things like Murkrow and Magcargo being from other pokemon gens because they're just, not easily obtainable or not showcased in any significant degree in their respective game.

You can't fix it.
Johto has two ghost lines and two steel lines (can't count scizor here).
Unless you want gym leaders 4 and 5 to have two pokemon each, then you need to repeat them.

If I recall, Red's team was the starters, Pikachu, and two pokemon that you are basically given being Espeon and Snorlax (not given but a roadblock you have to fight), and I believe in Sun/Moon, they replace Espeon with Lapras, another giftmon.

With that in mind, I feel like Ethan's team would be something similar like:

>Meganium
>Feraligatr
>Togekiss (or Togetic if they draw the line at gen2)
>Sudowoodo
>Maybe Hitmontop? I can't remember any notable gift/unavoidable pokemon off the top of my head.

Maybe a Fearow named Kenya.

Red's team was like that because they imitated yellow/the anime. Gold's team would be pretty different I guess.
Red gyarados should be in it, they have no issue repeating types considering blastoise and lapras.

But yeah, I feel like it's still worth doing a team like that if only because it feels more like a "Oh shit, I remember catching those pokemon" moment. Granted, they'd probably end up just doing Red or the MC from Let's Go P/E with a similar team to red (Plus Melmetal)
