What's with all the gen 5 characters in PLA?

gen 5 was originally planned to be a sequel to gen 4 like how gen 2 is to 1. I guess most of this is just a callback to that.

i thought it was stated that people from all over the world were checking out Hisui, I just assumed Lian was visiting from Unova. Having all these character originate from one region would be kinda weird anyways lol.
