Every new gimmick seems to try to "fix" what GF thinks the former were lacking, so what does Dynamax lack that makes it still less popular than mega evolution?

Honestly they could drop all the gimmicks apart from regional variants and the games would be fine. If they insist on adding a battle gimmick, it should be combo/partner attacks like an expansion on idea behind the pledge moves.

Dynamax is less popular than megas for 1 reason, and thats that it was the 3rd gimmick. If you put Dynamax as the first gimmick introduced people would be BEGGING to let Gamefreak dynamax their boys again and clamor about how it balances everyone equally and makes every pokemon feel more viable. Similarly if megas were introduced as the 3rd gimmick, people would say the designs suck, it unfairly targets pokemon, and is shoehorned in as a marketing gimmick without soul

Gimmicks shouldn't exist, they all suck.

We need RushReflex!
Boosts the Pokémon's speed stats and allows them to move twice in one turn, when two Pokémon have the same base speed, they will collide with each other only using a move strongest against there's beat there's, if they are the same attack, they both take damage, status the foe will take full damage but still boost a stat.
Some Pokémon have RushReflex mode that changes the form of the Pokémon, like carizard gets fire rollerblades for his new form, with new abilities.
All Rushed Pokémon gain a 5th move that is basically super powerful nuke but using it instantly reverts you back to your base state.
RushReflex doesn't end until you use the 5th move or turn it off yourself, turning it off allows you to apply it to another Pokémon but only after 3 turns pass.

Also, what the fuck is Gamefreak doing not designing forms for the whole line? You're telling me Koffing, a pokemon that exhales toxic smog and pollutes the environment, evolves into a pokemon that cleans the environment? How the fuck does that make sense!

I'd like that too, for them to just add a few new Megas, exclusive Z-moves and Gigantamax on top of the existing ones. And make the player forced to pick only one gimmick per battle like in the current anime.

But that would probably be a nightmare to balance around so it ain't happening.

Frankly, D/G-Max needs a nerf, all the fucking benefits plus double HP and moves with broken teamwide effects are asinine, it killed singles and turned doubles into cancer. I dunno maybe make the attack effects only affect the max mons and not the allies or take away some of the immunities like disable and flinch might help as well, just wish we got more megas or at least they expanded more on the gimmicks rather than shelve then regardless of their reception.

Fusion Pokemon. You know it's going to happen. Any two Pokemon can fuse together, similar to Dynamax, and it lasts a few turns. Most Pokemon combinations are just a holographic combination of the two Pokemon, but certain special combinations result in a new model, that comes with a new ability. Good excuse to introduce a region dedicated to double battles too.

For all we know, they could be. The first two gimmicks have been exclusively nuke moves so it's possible they'll relapse and retcon other things into one-time gimmicks as well.

You're a fucking idiot if you truly believe that. The reason why tons of people hated Dynamax is because in exchange of seeing something new they just dropped it all for bigger glowing upscales with a few exceptions being ones with the Gigantamax forms. It also doesn't balance anything equally because it just ups everybody's state the same amount on both sides, which leaves them right where they left off if both dynamaxed. This was just gamefreak's lazy way to implement a bland gimmick in a half assed game and wouldn't be surprised next gen they drop it for simple glowing dbz kiaoken aura effects.

what are you talking about? Megas ARE a gimmick. They were featured in 2 different games i guess but they were all but thrown out by Gen 7, sure they were in there, but tucked away and not expanded upon or mentioned at all. They were created to market XY and carried into the marketing for ORAS, then they were thrown away just like Z-Moves and Dynamax.

People liked megas because they liked seeing their favorite mon going super sayain, it didn't matter if it was your starter or the eugenics variant you could use any mon as long as said mon had a mega, that's not the case with Dynamax which not only is shitty upscale with turd clouds the few mons who get a G-Max need to have the special thing else they can't go beyond super, also the damn mechanic is fucking broken in a way neither Megas or Z-Moves could be.

Completely braindead take, Dynamax made it so games aren't decided entirely by support Pokemon by providing a defense against lolfakeout and some piercing effects to address protect spam. Whimsicott might gain access to max airstream same as Togekiss but they are not the same.
