You can also run free in every single place of the Pokémon games from the top and those have waaay more places to go and completely different one from the other. I already knew the game was going to be a hit. 1st, 10 million sales and above for a new pokemon game (not remake) is not shocking. 2nd, PLA is basically a new genera of Pokemon and those typically do amazing. Examples are Mystery Dungeon Red/Blue setting the path for Mystery Dungeon series, Pokemon Masters/Unite copying popular gimmick of Gacha/MOBA games that already existed and are doing well in playerbase and income. PLA is doing the same thing, copying a popular method that is Open world that fans love (Mario Sunshine/Link games/Breath Wild, etc) and what Gen pokemon games lack because while SS was good, it lacked the open world exploration PLA gave. So again not shocking PLA did great and will be a new genera like the Mystery Dungeons.

This is how the routes in SWSH were designed. Moving forward pokemon should abandon the old way of making routes and move to something that fully takes advantage of the 3D space. PLA is not that game, but its a step forward.
