Pokemon reviews shouldn't matter either way because literally all of them are paid for and get special bonuses for both being a primarily-Nintendo-associated product and for being a Pokemon product.
Italia's the result of a review that wasn't paid for, and it shows how much critics don't actually like videogames and are only here because they can get paid, get a checkmark on Twitter and form a defense mob.

GG was a movement about ethics in journalism, and when the journalists started attacking gamers as a whole they incurred the wrath millions. I don’t really give a shit about the death threats (Not deemed credible by the FBI btw) or the fact it became a major recruiting ground for the 2010s culture wars.
What I care about is the fact it exposed an industry to millions of normies who previously thought Gaming “Journalism” was credible.

The post didn't say "every Pokemon game made by Game Freak" or "every non-spinoff Pokemon game". It said "every Pokemon game". That means every single one. No distinction between main games and spin-offs. No distinction between ones made by GF and ones that aren't. The post said every. single. one. Changing it to discount spin-offs or non-GF games after counterexamples were pointed out is simply moving the goalposts.

If something is below that, it's usually neither a paid shill nor someone who liked the game.
If it's 8X, they either liked it enough or got paid for it.
If it's 90 or more, both happened.
