We probably won't see Gen IX this year because we got PLA this year. I don't think even The Pokémon Company is so dumb they'd release an underwhelming remake in the main series, a bad "open world" game with only 200 Pokémon, and Gen IX all within a year.

They only get like a third of the revenue from Go IIRC. That's typically how licensing agreements work.
