>>49454055>Sinnoh>Hoenn>Kalos >Unova>Johto>Alola>Kanto>GalarSinnoh and Hoenn are obvious, that's when route design was at it's most solid in my opinion, with sinnoh only being slightly above hoenn because has more consistently good routes, tho I'd say hoenn hits slightly greater highs so it's very close. I hate gen 6 but kalos has fucking superb route design (Pic related), it might even be better than hoenn or sinnoh if it weren't for the often nonsensical biome placement and the fact that it has less routes overall. Unova is cleanly middle of the road, it has some short routes (5, 8, 10 etc) , some medium routes (3, 6, 7 etc), and some long routes (4, 13, 23 etc), and they're all good for what they are. Very solid region. Johto is only as low as it is because it's routes tend to be pretty minimal overall, tho it's worth noting that is 100% due to hardware limitations, they definitely used the space they had with maximum efficiency and that's commendable. Alola starts out really strong on island 1 but the routes get pretty pathetic from there, it's majorly disappointing. Kanto is definitely one of the worst, it's clear that they had a very poor idea of what exactly they wanted out of routes, most of them are exactly what they're often memed as: hallways that funnel you through trainers with some grass patches and items on the sides. I'm gonna give it break for being gen 1 tho. Galar is a no brainer, there are definitely some good ones but the fact that there's only 10 fucking routes makes the fact that about half of them are ridiculously small for a switch game all the worse. It's unforgiveable
