Remember that PLA MC is LITERALLY Lucas/Dawn travelling through time. Maybe this shifted the timeline a bit, and in the proper timeline Rei/Akari, the real ones, were the proper "heroes" of hisui, and arceus decided to make lucas/dawn go through the same stuff as a test of sorts.
