>>49457725>what did you dislike about the gameplay and game design? It's a sandbox with fucking nothing to do. There are dozens of zero effort BoTW knockoffs made over the past few years that would be shit in their own right, that make this game look like shit by comparison. You can't dick around, you can't really explore for exploration's sake, you can't bully the wild pokemon, there's just fucking nothing.
>What for improvements/new ideas do you want to see in a new installment?Besides, y'know, fixing that shit,
At absolute minimum, the ride mechanic needs to be removed, in exchange for using your own pokemon. The ride mechanic was good in Sun and Moon, but now that your boxes are always available, it's pointless, and makes your own pokemon more like accessories than ever before, in favor of fucking Stantler. Actually using the massive quantity of pokemon at your fingertips to ride or deal with issues is a no brainer. Expanding on that, take some pages from Pokemon Ranger. Give each pokemon a list of overworld abilities, either innate to the species, or derived from their types, moves, and abilities, and make those abilities useful. Fire types can ignite fires, ice types can freeze shit, pokemon large enough that fly can carry you over the minefield you've laid out. Winning battles, or at least setting up fuckhuge advantages by clever use of your pokemon's abilities is the fucking anvil a game like this needs to be hammering against.
This can, and should extend to the boss battles, which are the most pathetic shit I have ever seen. Battling or trapping a pokemon into a stun state, THEN pelting them with fucking juice boxes should be the minimum, and a battle with them should entail studying their behaviors and exploiting them. You can brute force battle them if you're lazy and/or a brainlet, or active battle them using those abilities.
Boom, just like that, you have added enough complexity to the game where individual playstyle can impact gameplay feel.
