>>49465556>And how is the actual Pokémon hunting? The different behaviors of each pokemon make some of them a bit challenging to get. There's definitely some skill involved in knowing what items to use and being able to deal with hordes of aggro pokemon coming after you when you're trying to get one specific mon. But for the rarer ones it's mostly RNG or knowing exactly where they spawn.
That's mostly the entire draw of exploring the world, seeing if you can find rare pokemon tucked away into a corner, or different habitats geared towards specific types of mon.
The world is plain and could really use some more heavy exploration-focussed gameplay, but it's big enough with enough landmarks to keep me busy. Also the sidequests, while usually involving capturing more mon, are varied and keep me busy as well, and help expand the town with more features. And figuring out how to complete just enough tasks to get a dex entry as optimally as possible, and figuring out the clues to find the different unown, etc...
There's a ton to do but it does get a bit monotone at times when you've been focussing on getting one specific pokemon for an hour.
>the mechanics seem easy and a bit too casualPokemon is not for you, then, though there are some tough to capture mon and some tough fights towards the end, and honestly the entire capture/lure system has a fair bit of technical depth and variety, it's always been and will always be geared towards a casual audience.
This is probably one of the harder games for little timmy, especially in terms of controls and the endgame/getting to arceus, but nothing out of this world.
>But I'm not convinced that it's worth 60 bucksIMO it's not but I also think very few of the games nintendo puts out are worth that price, so take that as you will. It's the first time I've had genuine fun with a pokemon game since ORAS.
