PLA fans, how would you take it if the next game was nothing like PLA and back to the usual style? There's no guarantee that Legends becomes a sub series

They will probably just add more overworld trainers like the miss-fortune sisters and actual gym-like challenges/town entrances to each zone in places that require a bit of progress (like needing to climb or the usual beat these trainers because you currently cannot surf/climb/fly beyond them).

Like a new Pokemon, a new character, some minor QOL feature, some gimmick or some kind of nostalgic garbage where I should know better. Then I'll enjoy it by accident but continue to post online that I wish it was more like PLA in some aspects.

As for subseries, most Nintendo franchises have stuff like this as one-offs. Still haven't seen another "Fire Emblem Echoes", and where is Super Princess Peach 2?

I'd be disappointed, I think a lot of these changes are positive ones and should at the very least be incorporated into future mainline games. I really can't imagine going back to fucking TMs after this.

Yes, TMs are unlimited use since gen 5 I think
SwSh has unlimited TMs and TRs that are one time use but they throw them at you and I never run out. BDSP is fucking retarded but it's not a stample

and this game you just select your pokemon and get a list of the moves it has learned and can learn and then you swap them in and out at will. No scrolling through a fuck load of un-named TMs only to find out you can't actually teach your pokemon the move you wanted to.

are you talking about how you learn your level up moves or about the npc that teaches you moves?
because I don't see how the way you learn, relearn and sort moves you already have is relevant to TMs and I don't see how having unlimited acces to TMs in your beg all the time is not better than going all the way to an NPC to pay a fee to lear a move.
I think that the game would benefit from having those moves be something you can find in the overworld making exploration more rewarding in the process.

PLA fan, almost 60 hours into the game.
I don't want another PLA, but I don't want another "traditional" game either.
I haven't been able to get through a traditional game in almost a decade, always leaving it halfway, and I think PLA's main strength is just that it just plays completely differently while still keeping the series' core intact.
I wish we get new games with different gameplay styles and different mechanics, maybe the next game can be more RTS-like where you build settlements with your pokemon to advance the game or something. Anything but regurgitating the same tried-and-true formula over and over again.
But I know we're just gonna get another PLA but worse.

Unfortunately the "core" of pokemon is capturing the beasts, so unless you somehow emphasize that aspect, not gonna happen except in spinoffs.

If pokemon spinoffs had as much support as mario this could definitely be possible but releasing a game with a completely different playstyle every year isnt sustainable for gf alone. Also it really wouldnt be a good idea for the series, youd alienate a lot of people and youd never be able to know if the next product will succeed. Thats a fast track to killing your franchise

when you pay the fee to the move tutor that move is added to the pokemons move pool and you don't need to go back to the bitch if you swap it out

still doesn't need to be a stupid, sometimes namless, tm. Find a scroll or some shit and it's available any time you go into the change moves menu. The TM setup is just menu and inventory bloat that just makes things more convoluted.

You're right, it's wishful thinking on my part. I just don't trust GF to be able to improve significantly on a single concept. Change alienates a ton of people, this game already does that, I just wish they kept changing for the sake of keeping shit fresh.
