i mean i haven't but i was thinking about using him in crystal, you get him pretty early and he's got a unique typing and fighting types are rare in johto. either way you could say that for a lot of water types, there's just so many. seaking, dewgong, golduck, etc.

I used Poliwrath in Showdown NU alot with bulk up / circle throw. I also had a Poliwrath in my most memorable nuzlocke run ever that I did with my friend on a trip to Poland. It was Pokemon X, so it should have been relatively easy, but I hadn't played it before, skipped out on gift mons, and every night we'd go out and get shitfaced, and before bed drunk me would inevitably fuck up and kill favorites.

I lost almost all my team to a Throh in the ice cave. Then when I fought the team flare boss, dont remember his name, I only had a Gyarados and Bisharp left and I lost due to a low attack roll.

If I ever replay LGFR, I think I will pick him. I used Gyarados, and was cool, but it didn't make me feel "Woah, water dragon!", I was more like "Why the fuck I picked this guy? He got nerfed as fuck in special, and I need a water tank!"
At least he survived the Indigo Plateau, so I guess Gyarados is fine.

I actually remember that kid's place
motherfucker had 2 gameboys and a link cable which was the dream back then
I remember I was so excited I had to jerk off in the guest bathroom to calm down
but then again I often did that whenever we went places

Incredibly useful in Black and White and even Black 2 and White 2.

Obtained RIGHT before the Dragon gym. People have absolutely used them.

Slams a solid column of water into the opponent, leaving them drenched. Lowers Evasion.

Designed to combo into Dynamic Punch. Poliwrath is now fun to use.

Its in Chargestone Cave and while it has an abysmal movepool, it also happens to learn everything you'd want it to have by level up. Takes a bit to evolve but Klang is decent.
Not the most farfetched thing to use in Gen 5 although Ferroseed is in the same spot and depending on your team might do more.

I actually like the idea of this for a move but instead of lowering evasion itll have the same effect as soak added, making the target now water type. Then keep it exclusive to poliwrath. Could make for some fun shenanigans and give poliwrath some real viability since it's one of the few fighting types that doesn't get access to elemental punches of any kind

What "shenanigans" does the Soak effect give Poliwrath? Making the opponent Water-type just means they resist its STAB, and its not like it gets any Electric or Grass moves to capitalise on.

For me it's picrel. Usually avoid waifumons because of their associations as such, but next time I play Emerald I think I'll give her a try. Salazzle and Primarina are proving to be very dependable.

What? Poliwrath is fighting type too anon. And water does not resist fighting.
It's fun because it moves Stab from the opponent, allowing for easier tanking or switchins. Or as stated to help keep poliwrath in so it can just punch it to death without fear of stab
