The visuals are shit but I’m genuinely surprised with how different this mainline game feels. Never would have thought they would take things this far from the more traditional games. I really hope gen 9 feels like legends Arceus and Sword/shield had a baby

Dw, they'll either shut up or cry when Gen 9 looks like PLA instead of like SwSh, just like when Gen 7 got rid of HMs.

You rarely hear anyone defending HMs anymore, especially because BDSP somewhat brought them back and reminded everyone of how shit they are.

BDSP did HMs similarly to gen 7 though since they no longer take up a move slot and you use service Pokémon or whatever to perform the move/task

The frustrating thing is that inherent flaws in the game's lighting and material systems are usually not something that can easily be fixed via modding like low texture resolution can.

The game will always look like this, even after people do their best to try and make it look better.

GameFreak can't shade for shit. Mixing emission with simple gloss has and will always look like shit. Especially if your gloss is some random tiled texture.
