I'm gonna go pick up the game tomorrow, is there a battle facility in the game ? Since there hasn't been a proper battle park/festival from gen 6 onwards, there is no online battling and although i was content with the battle tree, the battle facilities are where i spend most of the postgame.

So a Pokemon has a Resarch level that caps at 10 pretty fast but also has Tasks that look pretty grindy
Is there anything special between having the bare minimum Task and Research 10 for a Pokemon vs Having 100% all the Task.
Or is it just an OCD checklist for people who're bored?

It depends on how deep into Pokémon you are, and probably gaming in general. I’ve played all the main games since gen 1 but never got heavy into the competitive side of things, just casually playing. After 23 years of playing the same formula it’s refreshing. Also I only own a switch and don’t play many other video games so while I can recognize that the graphics are shit for 2022, it doesn’t spoil the game for me.

If you encounter a Cherrim in the 1st area it's impossible to catch it keep in mind this game doesn't have a master ball sort of item either so if you're shiny hunting for this mon either find Cherubi which is totally catchable or go to another area like >>49475646 said otherwise you're gonna be in for a rude awakening
and here's a fun fact for you, a similar glitch was in Sun and Moon where it's impossible to catch Beldum in a Heavy Ball

it's not impossible you can get really lucky and catch them but
>good chance you're underranked so they'll ignore you most of the time
>they'll likely curbstomp your team if you're underleveled
>they carried that shitty catching mechanic from sword and shield that makes it borderline impossible to catch higher level mons if you're underleveled compared to them
all in all i suggest ignoring them for now focus on getting your rank and levels up first so you can at least stand a chance against them to make it easier to catch if you got wyrdeer there's a trick you can use to climb the top left of the map and fight an alpha blissey which should speed this process up

Completing all tasks for a mon increases shiny rate for that mon. It's about 1/4000 normally, 1/2000 at level 10, and 1/1000 for level 10 + all tasks completed.

No, you can rematch the same like 7 or 8 people how many times as you want by talking to a certain NPC but no actual battle facility.
It's not a battle-focused game.

There are very few Pokemon whose evolved forms don't show up at some point. It's honestly smarter to hold off and complete Dex entries before evolving certain Pokemon, I wish I had. the variety in terrain is nice but getting back to some places is such a hassle sometimes, eve with every camp set up in an area. I wish you could set down waypoints you could fly back to. To prevent it from being broken just limit it to one per map.

That's based on time. At night their draw distance increases massively, during the day you can't see them until your close to them. The NPC who gives you the quest implies that they only show up at night, but they just get their draw distance cut to almost nothing during daytime.

Are you using feather balls? Once the wind swirl around them stops, they don't work anymore - they've got a pretty flat trajectory but once they start falling they're useless. I think other balls stop working if they fall far enough too but I haven't tested them.

Yeah. You can catch them just like anything else. They'll try backing up if they break out, but feather balls usually still reach them. Just hide in grass nearby or behind a rock and keep tossing balls at them.

Jfc that Lilligant fight is absolutely broken. The dodge protection doesn't work right for the circle radius attack and will just deal damage during your alleged protection window and the ZL target frequently doesn't hold which ducks you on the balms and dodging. Wouldn't be so bad if the PC didn't have a tiny health bar.

At that point I completely lose focus of Lilligant and then can't aim in order to further dodge and get a balm in or two. But when you expect the target to hold and it slips, it ends up fucking you like what happened to me. Even then, when I successfully dodge as the green area appears it shouldn't be hitting me if I land halfway on the edge during that protection timeframe if it's much more liberal on the circular wave attacks.

Why has it taken until now to make a Pokedex centric game? I absolutely love digging through my Pokedex and planning shit out. Every past game it's always felt like an after thought or just a means to get a post game item like the shiny charm. Other issues with the game aside, this part is refreshing.

Sun and Moon was very story focused, and I think Sword and Shield tried to be story focused too, but flopped so hard in that regard they decided to go in the opposite direction pretty hardcore. Ironically the simpler story of Arceus so far makes me enjoy some of these characters more.
